The children worked hard to achieve the Health for Life Award for Nursery Schools which is run by Birmingham City Council and Mondelez. The award focuses on four key areas:
· Healthy Eating
· Physical Activity
· Growing Food
· Family Involvement
As a school we already do a lot towards these areas so have tried to further our children's understanding of a healthy lifestyle. We are a registered school for the Daily Mile to promote an active lifestyle, and we do a lot of work around healthy food choices with our children. A variety of cooking activities are a big part of Nursery life, but we wanted to give the children and their families an insight into where our food comes from so with Health for Life funding we have been able to have to a much more hands-on approach, from preparing vegetable beds to sowing and growing their very own seeds... our carrots are so much tastier than shop bought ones!
In January 2020, we were proud to collect our plaque from the Lord Mayor of Birmingham at the Council house for achieving our Health for Life award. The children who went to the ceremony represented our school beautifully and we had some wonderful feedback from others who were at the event.
As a school we will continue to work with our children and their families to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle in order to help provide them with the best possible start in life. We ask that you support this by not bringing sweets, fizzy drinks or fast food on to the school site for your child. Thank you!
